I am sending you this letter due to the growing amount of displeasure that I have had at your Mission Valley location. The customer service over the last 3 years has gotten worse. The baggers do not know how to bag and so I insist that I bag my own good. I get home and have had more food that has gone to waste because it gets so smashed. The baggers spend more time talking to the check out clerk or other baggers while they bag that they do not look to see what they are doing. Quite often you do not even get a hello from anyone, When I have asked to bag, in fact insisted that I do I have had rude comments made that I have over heard about "being the 2 guys that don't like us to bag there stuff" and not in a nice way. I have had many conversations with some of the front end management about the bagging and it has not gotten any better. At leased not for me. This is only the beginning of what makes me not happy with your store.
The deli in it self is a whole other story. The customer service is just sad. The last experience I had with them was when I called 2 days before my big holiday party to see if they offered something that I was looking for and was very specific with regards to what it was, and was told "yes we have that" However when I got there, it was not even anything that was offered and no one knew what I was talking about. I was offered another choice at 3 times the price. Not happy at all. I find most of the people at the front end to be un professional and lack any kind of customer service at all.
The last time I was in your store was really the straw that prompted me to send you a letter. I needed 2 pieces of salmon about 4" a piece and the guy behind the counter was not at all willing to do what I wanted. I said 4" and he would show me 6" or more. Again, I said no and showed him again what I wanted and again he acted as if he did not get it and said " do you want me to just cut this in half?" showing me this huge piece of salmon. I could see that he did not want to waste any of the fish but it was way more then I needed and wanted to pay for. Feeling like I did not have a choice I just took the whole thing . I later said something at the check out stand thinking maybe, I don't know. My point was more that it was more then I wanted and more then I wanted to buy and it will go to waste. " Well I will be here till 9pm you can just bring it to me later" was her remark. I told her that the point was the man was accommodating and showed no customer service. I was then told by the same gal " your just high maintenance" I think that she thought that she was funny, but I assure I was not amused.
In todays times anyone in business that thinks they can get away with poor customer service is sadly mistaken. It is to easy to just go somewhere else. Now do not get me wrong, I have had some good customer service in some areas of the store. Produce is wonderful and has the most helpful people in the store. The are also some great people at the front end as well but they are far and few between. I am not looking to get something free or any other kind of compensation by sending you this letter. I just would like a better place to shop. I do not know what your practices are but I feel that it may be time for a secret shopper. One who will perhaps put the store to the test. I am not a rough or tuff customer but I do like good service. Send someone that will challenge the deli as well as the meat department. Then really observe the front end. So my question to you is, Does this sound like a place that would shop?
