A little Starbuck logo history from Seattle.

This is actually the original Starbuck's logo - for some reason the company is re-releasing in their attempt to reposition themselves against all of the recent competition (e.g. MacDonalds). The orignial logo was updated (see current company signage) several years back - for the very reasons it's re-release have incited. Apparently the intent of the mermaid to welcome sailors into port - so to speak - is a little too welcoming for some. Go figure.

No idea why Starbuck's thought they could re-release this version without some hoopla... maybe the hoopla was by design?
